Howard County’s newest brewery, Hysteria Brewing Co., made it official, holding their ribbon cutting ceremony this morning. Co-owner Rich Gue held the big scissors, while his partners Geoff Lopes and Jordan Banes cheered him on. Also in attendance were County Executive Allan Kittleman, MD State Senator Guy Guzzone, MD Delegate Shane Pendergrass, Howard County Chamber of Commerce President Leonardo McClarty and Columbia Association President/CEO Milton Matthews. Saturday Beer Reads

Fall officially began this week.  Happy autumn! I’m trying to embrace the fall season after the memorable and fun summer. I’m mourning the end of fresh tomatoes and peaches, but now we can look forward to apples, pumpkins and of course, seasonal beers like pumpkin, Oktoberfest, and Marzens. Below are a few gems I found to read on this first weekend of fall.

MD Brewery Challenge #27

In the gentrifying neighborhood of Locust Point, the tiny brewery, Diamondback Brewing Company, has found a home. Yesterday, I visited Diamondback for 2 reasons. First,  the Society for the Preservation of Beers from the Wood (SPBW) was holding their monthly meeting there. Saturday Beer Reads

It is hard to believe this is the last week of summer. Where has the time gone?

So, slow down and take a moment to relax. Here are a few little gems about today’s beer world.

This first one is for my friend, dBear, about one of Maine’s premier breweries – The Oral History of Allagash White.

Although it’s still September, the beer is flowing in Munich for Oktoberfest.
