Happy Saturday! What a  great week we’ve had here in Columbia, MD. I’ve been enjoying the beautiful sunny days and relatively cool weather with low humidity. But all things must end. For once, I welcome this hot summer Sunday. Why? Some friends and I will be conducting the 15th annual Columbia Tour du Pools where we bicycle to 23 pools (over 3 days) and swim a lap in each one. Early this morning, I’ll be harvesting potatoes from my garden. It is has been hot and dry, so I plan to water as well. Later, I’ll hide away in the A/C and watch a little World Cup soccer: it’s France vs. Argentina, then Uruguay vs. Portugal. Around 5:00 PM, I plan to drive into Baltimore for the Checkerspot Brewing’s Grand Opening. It’s open from 12 PM – 12 AM today.

Beer Reads

It is nice to finally have a little dry weather. I’ve taken it easy after a long weekend in Philadelphia celebrating beer week. I did go to Frisco Taphouse on Wednesday with the gang to try a few of the 20 Wicked Weed beers on tap. I enjoyed 2 sours, the Black Angel (complex, balsamic, and tart, ) and La Bonté (made with pears; bursting with sweet, funky, and sour tastes ), both wonderful.   Continue reading Beer Reads
