I just had to get outside on this sunny and warm spring day, so I headed over to Ellicott City to pick up some beer; we are expecting guests over the next few days. I ended up at Allview Liquors (of course) and Dorsey’s Search Wine & Spirits.
This weekend will be filled with old friends at a Kent Island wedding. To celebrate, I’ve started things off with a delicious Black Bears Brewing Backyard Stinker, a dBear creation. While I’m having fun on the Eastern Shore, I’ve picked a few beer reads to enjoy.
Exciting news! A package from The Rare Beer Club just arrived at my doorstep a few minutes ago! Each month, I’ll receive 2 beers selected by the club. This should help me stretch my beer tastebuds, trying beers outside my region and favorite beer styles. I’ll keep you posted.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! A few days ago, I got together with my friend of many years, David, to celebrate his birthday which happens every year on Pi Day, March 14. We got together at Guinness Open Gate Brewery and Barrel House.
While winter lingers, we are in the midst of Lent and Saint Patrick’s Day weekend. Surprisingly, I’ve discovered a few craft beer related articles covering these two contrasting events plus a few other gems. Enjoy.
Catholic News Agency, These 17th century monks did a beer fast for Lent. I’ve seen dozens of articles noting beer fasts for lent. Having the source from the Catholic News Agency gives it some real authority, IMHO.

For the month of March, Allview Liquors has all the 2018 Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout varieties. Plus a raffle to basically give away bottles to the winner!
On this cold March day, I’ll be walking to Sapwood Cellars with some friends to sample a few of their fine beers. This is a repeat of January’s Walk to Sapwood. I have my sights on their Atomic Apricot. Before I go, I collected a few craft beer reads for you to mull over during this cold weekend. Enjoy.
I stopped by for a birthday brew with my son at Max’s. I had a Burly Oak Strawberry Rhubarb Pie J.R.E.A.M. It was delicious but sad. My recently departed mom made cherished strawberry rhubarb pies for birthdays. Thanks to Burley Oak for this fine beer and warm memories. Hats off to Max’s Taphouse for being named Maryland’s top beer bar in the state by CraftBeer.com. See that list and other craft beer articles below.
