Jim and I had long wanted to visit this resurrected old catholic church, so we finally ventured into Baltimore this past Wednesday.
Just walking into the Ministry of Brewing is awe inspiring. The restored St. Michael’s Church, with a painted ceiling and tall pillars is a sight to behold. The roomy tables were well spaced and the murmur of the small crowd in this vast building made the place feel warm and inviting.
Opened in January 21, 2020 (talk about bad timing), it is now fully opened for business – no mask required. They serve craft beer, craft sodas and cider. The high ceilings and overall massive size makes this the brewing cathedral of Baltimore. Located at the corner of Wolfe and Lombard Streets, it is very close to Patterson Park. For more info, visit the Ministry of Brewing.
We tried 2 beers, Wispy (Hazy Pale Ale) and The Point (A Czech-style Pilsner), both served in plastic cups. For brewery visits, I like to start with a pilsner; they are challenging to make, easy on the palate, usually a low ABV, and often delicious. The Point was good, not quite as crisp as I like or expect in a Czech pilsner but easy drinking and well balanced. My Wispy was a not so hazy pale ale. I enjoyed it none the less, finding it a great complement for a steamy Baltimore summer evening.
Overall, the Ministry of Brewing is a fun destination. The spectacular building is roomy enough to gather and spend some time with friends, and the beer is well made if not spectacular. I look forward to exploring more of their beverages the next time I visit.
Cheers!

Nice to see ya getting out and about again… I’ve been meaning to visit Ministry of Brewing. If you haven’t checked out Inverness Brewing I highly recommend it.
