I’m still recovering from the Colts leaving Baltimore in 1984. So, for me, today’s Raven victory over the Colts is sweet.
In the first half, the Ravens had almost no offense, only scoring on a defensive turnover. I believe they had 0 yards running the entire first half. I cracked open a beer at half-time – Pressed Into It, a pumpkin ale from Hysteria Brewing. It is a pretty beer, a nice fall beer with quite a bit of pumpkin nose and just a hint of spices. I enjoyed a bit of caramel and nut flavor as well. Hysteria’s note on Untappd says, “Our distributors begged and begged for an easy drinking pumpkin ale. Fine…here it is.”
Just in case the Ravens turned things around, I had a celebratory beer picked out to share: Guinness Imperial Gingerbread Stout. During the second half, it was like a different Ravens’ offense took the field. They passed and ran on the Colts seemingly at will. The final score – 24 to 10, Ravens. BTW, this is the Ravens’ first victory over the Colts in Indianapolis. Go Ravens!
In celebration, we shared 11.2 ounces of a Gingerbread Stout, a 11% bourbon barrel aged beer. The 3+ ounces a piece was just about right. The boozy flavors and gingerbread spices hit the spot. A nice beer but at $21 a 4-pack, it is hard to recommend this overpriced winter ale.
Cheers!

I still want to try that Guinness! But it does seem expensive for what it is
I might be able to arrange that 🍺
