In a world of covid-19, our Wednesday Pint Nights are very different. We are separated but staying connected through Zoom. Thanks to Eric for his IT expertise.
Our virtual meetings are nice, though a bit choppy and impersonal. I feel like a talking head on cable news. But it is good to see my friends and catch up.
Earlier that day, I had ordered a sample Mini-Crowler 4-pack of Sapwood Cellars IPAs online:
- Cheater Hops #11 (Nelson IPA 7.1%),
- Light & Beauty (Citra Pale Ale 4.7%),
- Cryovolcano (Citra/Mosaic DIPA 8.6%), and
- Sabro Says (Sabro/Lotus IPA 6.8%).
All the IPAs were typical Sapwood styles – delicious, tropical with little bitter notes. The Sabro Says was a very pleasant surprise – very sweet with tropical fruit flavors. I love the low ABV and zesty citra flavors of Light & Beauty.
Others brought beers from local breweries and beer providers. Z had ordered from Black Flag – they offer same day delivery. Pierce had a resealable crowler from Crofton Frisco. John had a few beers from White Oak Tavern.
DBear had offered a bit of sad news. His landscaper had pulled up his Cascade hop plants from his yard, thinking they were weeds. This was the year that would have fully matured. He was expecting a bumper crop. Mrs. DBear picked up some more hop rhizomes from Maryland Home Brew. I guess he’ll be starting over.
Someone claimed that in Anne Arundel County, a home brewer can register his brewery and distribute growlers. Call me skeptical but Pierce, our AA Co. resident, is very interested. I’ll let you know if I learn more.
A few of our gang were missing because they were celebrating Passover. Happy Pesach!
Cheers!
Warren
