Santa came early this year, delivering a box from the Rare Beer Club.

The Rare Beer Club ships a couple of rare beers to my door each month courtesy of Mrs. Adventures. This month’s arrived today, just in time for Christmas.

Showing my usual restrain, I immediately opened the box. I found 2 bombers, one from Wisconsin brewer, O’so Brewing – Silver Streak and the other from The Netherlands – Sin & Remorse.

Silver Streak is a double IPA made with rye (hmm?). The name Silver Streak originates from the 1976 Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor movie. The beer is fermented with oak and dry-hopped with 4 hops – Mosaic, El Dorado, Citra, and Mackinac. It’s a 9% beer.

Sin & Remorse is actually made in Haarlem, The Netherlands by Jopen B.V. & Brouwerij de Molen. I’ve stayed in Haarlem for a night or 2 several years ago. It is a beautiful European city with an active public square. The beer is a 4-grain Imperial Stout and weighs in at 10% ABV. The grains feature English brown malt, 38% rye, 24% oats, and a little bit of wheat. This big beer reads like one to share over the holidays, with notes of chocolate, coffee, brown sugar. I’m looking forward to trying it.
Cheers!
