It is the day before Thanksgiving and I’m baking cookies.
This is a special occasion. I have not baked cookies since I was a little guy helping my mom in the kitchen. Today, I used her oatmeal chocolate cookie recipe with a modification. In honor of my dad, who was a big fan of black walnuts, I added 1/2 a cup of the tangy nuts to the recipe. So, serving these cookies on Thanksgiving will be my way of giving thanks and remembering both my parents.
For those of you following this blog, you have probably read more about black walnuts then you ever wanted to know. If you are a masochist or feel like you have missed out on all the fun, here’s a sample: Black walnut porter from Manor Hill.
Also, just a quick reminder that this Saturday, we are planning the 4th Annual Columbia Pub Crawl. Remember, you don’t have to make it to all the stops. Hope to see you.
Happy Thanksgiving and Cheers!
