Despite what you may have heard about Charm City, we love Baltimore! We spent a fun-filled long weekend exploring this very walkable city.
Having a car in downtown Baltimore is a pain, so we caught a ride from our friends (Thanks, John & Missy!) to our hotel in Harbor East. We ditched our stuff in our terrific room at the Marriott and walked along the promenade to Fells Point for lunch outside at the Broadway Market. We spent a gorgeous afternoon people snacking and people watching.
We followed the promenade to the end in Canton and caught electric scooters (my first time) up to Patterson Park. Once you figure out the app, scooters (I used Lime) are convenient, speedy and lots of fun. Once done, just park your scooter and log out – no hassles of parking cars and much less expensive more fun than Uber. We walked back to the harbor and took the free water taxi back to the Inner Harbor. What a great start to our weekend.
After living in Maryland all my life, I finally visited the Baltimore landmark, the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower. We took the tour led by Ernie, a very entertaining Bromo Seltzer aficionado. After a brief but fascinating lecture we ended our tour at the top of the tower to gaze upon the clock mechanism. On the way down, we gazed upon many works of art on the walls and in many of the rooms. This is a terrific way to spend a few hours in Baltimore.
Our restaurant “find” was an Argentinian steakhouse. Click on La Barrita Restobar to read my rave about this remarkable boutique restaurant.
We spent a day walking in Locust Point. Our destination was Fort McHenry, which was well worth the walk. The beautiful weather and scenic views kept us entertained. On our walk back we stopped in at Diamondback Brewing for a cold one. The Maple Thief was a chewy oatmeal stout sweetened with maple syrup.
We ended our day walking watching the sun set from Fed Hill. For Mr. & Mrs. Adventures, Baltimore truly is Charm City.
Cheers!
