Last Wednesday, I ordered a Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter at Frisco Tap House. Wow!
My first taste brought back childhood memories of pouring Hershey’s Chocolate syrup over vanilla ice cream. Someone at the table said if you drank this “beer” blindfolded, you would probably think you were drinking a milk shake not a beer.
It is quite a sweet beer so I followed Keith’s (the Frisco Tap House manager) suggestion and had it in a frosted mug. It is so sweet, it is best to drink cold. What, you say, drink a porter cold. Everyone knows you must set a porter or stout on the table for a few minutes to warm up so you can taste all those fine flavors. Well, trust me, order it cold. It was delicious that way and I did not give it any time to warm up as I quaffed down this savory collab beer quite quickly.
According to Yuengling’s website, their Hershey’s Chocolate Porter is a draft only limited-edition. I strongly suggest you head out and try this one of a kind beer. And maybe follow Dennis’ example and take a crowler home with you.
Cheers!
Warren
