The 2nd Chance is our neighborhood pub. Its a great place to meet friends, have a meal and a drink.

A few neighbors met us for dinner – it was 1/2 price burger night. The Nats were losing to the Astro in the World Series, 2-1 and most of the TVs were showing it.

The food is quite respectable but I’ve always stuck to the traditional bar food – fries, burgers, nachos, chili and wings. I’m not sure if our local watering hole qualifies as a “dive bar”, but this DCbeer article, On Dive Bars and Taprooms talks about the charms of one. The 2nd Chance Saloon meets most of the criteria, except it has strong craft beer roots. It has 100 beers available (18 on tap). I actually attended a beer tasting given by beer connoisseur, Michael Jackson, many years ago in the 2nd Chance dining room.

Every neighborhood needs a local gathering place. Thank goodness for the Second Chance Saloon.
