Highland, MD August 4, 2019
On a hot Sunday, we decided to go for a drive. This was an excuse to try out our brand new, electric vehicle, a Chevy Bolt. It provides about 240 miles on a fully charged battery – sweet!
Mrs. Adventures and I just happened to be in Highland and decided to stop by the new Brewer’s Art Tavern. We pulled off MD 108 into a strip mall and after a little hunting found this tiny piece of the Baltimore’s BA right here in Howard County.
It was way too hot for outdoor seating, so we welcomed the air-conditioned comfort of their cozy tavern. We chose seats at the bar which dominates the room. It was the middle of the afternoon, so the dining tables were sparsely occupied. The walls were covered with TVs showing a soccer game, and arena football. NFL games will fill these TVs starting next Sunday. Everyone was very friendly; we got to know our bartender, Jesse (or is it Jessie?) from Olney fairly well, except how to spell his name. I do know he’s a porter guy.
The draft beer list was like being back on Charles Street at the original Brewer’s Art. During my days working at Aberdeen Proving Ground, I used to stop by the BA on the MARC train to catch happy hour with my co-workers. Ozzie (now Beazly due to Ozzie Osborn’s objections) was my favorite but Resurrection, and Birdhouse were always tasty backups. The Tavern offers these BA standards plus a seasonal, and session IPA. They also offer some top-notch non-BA drafts. And remember, get the rosemary garlic fries, a must at any BA location!
Cheers!
