Sometimes things fall in my lap. A brewery, Sapwood Cellars, just moved into my neighborhood 4 months ago. It is only an 11-minute walk from my house. Now, I have a beer/growler portable cooler called Better Off Drinking from Groovy Guy Gifts. Does that make me a groovy guy?

Full disclosure – I received this gift from Joe of Groovy Guys Gifts in exchange for doing this review. Perhaps I’ve sold out? I like to think not.

The cooler comes with two adjustable, padded straps, which easily adjusted to my size. It is made of sturdy canvas material and is well constructed. My material experts tell me the trim is faux leather but I swear I smell leather. The inside is insulated with a zipper top to keep up to 24 cans of beer. There is a small zipper pocket on the top lid, as well. Another front pocket can be zippered and is a bit roomier. Also, two side pockets have room for 64-oz growlers or a couple brews. Imagine hauling a case of beer in the cooler plus two growlers in the side pockets; you would be a welcome addition to any party. As a personalized touch, my name is embroidered on the bag. The walk to Sapwood has been documented in this blog (some might even say a few too many times). Now with this “groovy” cooler, empty growlers can be transported to the brewery and filled growlers brought back home. The burning question, will my growlers fit and how many?

To test, I found 2 growlers, one standard 64-oz. and the other, a 2-liter with a snap trap top (pictured above). The 2-liter doesn’t really fit in the side pockets but both fit in the cooler with quite a bit of room. The top easily zips closed to keep both growlers cold.

I successfully walked to the brewery, (just 11 minutes) where Spencer filled my 64-oz growler with Threat Level Midnight for $25. I love this interesting porter/wee heavy with sweet chocolate flavor. The plan was to share for a Super Bowl Party. BTW, at the party, my portable cooler was a big hit as was the beer.

I recommend this sturdy portable cooler if you are looking for a way to keep your drinks cold and bring to your friend’s house or party. It would make a great groomsmen or Father’s Day gift.
