Columbia, MD January 24, 2019
Columbia brewery, Hysteria Brewing, has been officially open for about a year and a half now. As reported in an earlier post, Sad Panda, a vandal struck Hysteria during the early morning hours of January 6th. A suspect has been identified.
Below is all I know.
Warren’s Beer Adventures: “Did they ever catch the culprit who trashed your glycol unit and van?”
Ty Kreis of Hysteria: “They did! He was arrested and released on bond on the 16th. Not sure of what the trial date is yet, but he has three super serious charges.”
Following my own advice to drink Hysteria’s beer to show support, I stopped by their taproom to meet a friend. Due to the vandalism, their beer list is slimmer than usual but still very good. I enjoyed SouRED (not a Flanders Red). I told Jordan, Hysteria’s head brewer, that besides Trash Panda, I really enjoyed A Dark and Hazel Fortnight, their delicious brown ale and hope they make it again. Surprisingly, Jordan mentioned that A Dark and Hazel Fortnight was made without any hazelnuts, he just used a combination of malts to make that flavor. Next week, they will have a hazelnut stout (or maybe a porter) on tap made with hazelnut puree. I’ll have to investigate!
Cheers!
Warren
Glad to hear they caught the guy.
Happy they caught the creep. Hard to understand why some people can be so terrible.
