One of my favorite breweries, Cigar City, was featured at Frisco Tap House for pint night.
Cigar City seems to offer an endless stream of amazing beers. My 2 tried and true Cigar beers are Jai Alai and Madura. The juicy Jai Alai is one of the top IPAs in the country, which La says “was the first IPA I liked”, introducing her to the delicious world of Indian Pale Ales. Madura is a spectacular silky brown with complicated flavors of caramel, chocolate and a bit of coffee.
Frisco had my old standby’s on tap but I was in the mood for a new Cigar City experience. I stole sips of Pierce’s Marshal Zhukov’s Russian Imperial (a delicious coffee stout) and DBear’s Port Barrel-Aged Barley Wine (wow!). I picked the barley wine that starts out tasting of vanilla, progressing to plums and finally a boozy, tangy finish. Another Cigar City home run!
Apparently, I’m not alone in my love of Cigar City. According to VinePair‘s 11 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CIGAR CITY BREWING, Cigar City is the fastest growing top craft brewery in the country. The 2016 purchase of Cigar City by Canarchy may explain the sudden sales growth of these delicious beers. Cigar City joins Oskar Blues as members of this brewery collective.
With Cigar City’s outstanding lineup of beers and an infusion of capital, I look forward to sampling more of their beers.
Cheers!
