The Beer Diet is elegant in its simplicity. If you lose a pound in a week, you can drink beer; miss that target and no beer for you until your next weigh-in. For me, it has been remarkably effective. In just 2 weeks, I’ve lost 9.2 pounds.
Using the Lose It! app, I am tracking my calories. Since beer is the focus of this diet, here are September’s beers and their calorie content:
Beer | Ounces | Calories |
---|---|---|
Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock | 12 | 210 |
Schofferhofer | 12 | 102 |
Sierra Nevada Hop Bullet | 12 | 240 |
Bruery Sans Pagaie | 8 | 130 |
South County Dark Thread | 20 | 340 |
Mully's Galaxy King | 20 | 368 |
Sam Adam's Oktoberfest | 24 | 360 |
Natty Boh | 12 | 135 |
Partnership Ale #5 Olde Ale | 11 | 234 |
Reckless Agree to Disagree | 20 | 345 |
Cigar City White Oak Jai Alai | 20 | 375 |
Gunpowder Falls Pilsner | 12 | 150 |
Hysteria A Dark & Hazel Fortnight | 4 | 58 |
Flying Dog Horn Dog Barley | 6 | 153 |
When the calories of a given beer are not available, I used the formula ABV x 2.5 x ounces to approximate calories. For instance, I had a 12 oz. bottle of Gunpowder Falls Pilsner, a 5% ABV. That is 5 x 2.5 x 12 = 150.
Cheers!
Warren
Wow Shofferhofer is only 102 calories?
That’s Lose It’s calorie rating; however, it looks more like 136 calories. That’s still pretty reasonable.
