Saturday Beer Reads

Hurricane Florence missed Columbia, MD. That’s a relief but Flo still might drop more rain on this soggy county, probably next week. I celebrated Flo’s miss with a rare (for me) Friday night visit to Frisco Tap House. They were featuring The Bruery, a wonderful California brewery.

The Bruery Sans Pagaie in a small tulip glass - $15
The Bruery Sans Pagaie – only $15

I savored every last drop of a wonderful Sans Pagaie in a very small tulip glass. It is a very sour wild ale with hints of coconut and vanilla. It was exceptional and worth the $15.

On this Saturday as almost all Saturdays, I have found a few items to share from the craft beer world. Enjoy.

Several friends and I have discovered one of Howard County’s secrets – $2 crabs at the Sea King on Route 40 in Ellicott City. (It’s across the street from Mission Barbeque.) On Monday nights from 4-8 PM, they are offering this deal for at least one more week this season. The crabs are not as tiny as I expected and all mine were heavy with delicious crab meat. I had a Natty Boh (also $2) with my crabs.  Here are some interesting facts you probably don’t know about one of Maryland’s favorite beers.

As mentioned in the blog before, women were the original brewers as noted in According To History, We Can Thank Women For Beer.

Watch on Facebook or listen to Frederick’s #1 beer fan, Chris Sands, interview Chad D’Amore, founder of CoFestCo, and Brad Murphy. They talk about Hops & Harvest Festival and brewery Maryland tours. Hops & Harvest Festival in Columbia on September 29, 2018. It’s at the lakefront with lots of beer, wine and spirits vendors. Tickets are $40.

Thanks to Z for passing on this Trash Panda event on October 1st.

On Wednesday, October 3rd is Punktoberfest at Frisco Tap House.

Also, thanks to Jim for mentioning upcoming Baltimore Beer Week on October 12th- 21st.

Cheers!
