Five of the Wednesday group made it to Mully’s Pint Night at Frisco Tap House, each collecting a Mully’s pint glass. Mully’s is a Southern Maryland brewery. I’m just starting to see their beer in Howard County.
John and I actually visited Mully’s Brewery last year. It was part of my Maryland Brewery Challenge. Click on Our Mully’s Brewery visit to read about last year’s visit.
Several of us tried their Galaxy King, a hazy New England IPA with Galaxy hops. This ale is triple-dry hopped with Galaxy, Mandarina Bavaria, and Motueka hops. I really enjoyed this intensely hopped, fruity tasting beer. Not long after I finished my King, the keg was killed, so others liked it, too.
Other beers at the table included Blood Orange Blonde (sweet, fruity blonde ale) and Galaxy Queen (version 1 of Galaxy King). The Galaxy King really trashed my palate so I really can’t give an objective comment to those beers.
Several of us wrapped things up with a Southern County Dark Thread Porter. This sweet, rich chocolate beer was fantastic!
We learned that Frisco is featuring The Bruery & Offshoot on Friday from 5-8 PM. I’ve had one beer from this California brewery — Oude Tart — twice. It’s a Flanders Red Ale, one of my favorite styles. I loved the 2015 bottle and thought the 2014 bottle was average. It would be fun to taste some more from this highly rated brewery.
Also, mark your calendars; Punktoberfest is coming to Frisco on October 3rd (that’s a Wednesday). The Pint Night Crew always loves this event. Frisco manager, Keith, says this year will have more Oktoberfest beers as well as a healthy lineup of pumpkin beers.
Cheers!
