What’s a great cure for a heat wave? Cigar City and Oskar Blues Pint Night at Frisco Tap House.
Seven of us shared a table near the main bar. A big party was occupied our usual backroom tables, giving us a different perspective on Frisco; a bit louder and a lot more bustling.
I was excited to drink from one of dBear’s favorite breweries, Cigar City and maybe win a Cigar City cooler. I ordered their White Oak Jai Alai. It is a modified Jai Alai IPA where Cigar City soaks white oak spirals to mellow out the beer. I did not taste the “vanilla, coconut and a touch of dill” that Cigar City mentions in their description, but it was a delicious beer. The spirals definitely masked the 70 IBUs. My mug of beer went down way to easy.
On the way in, I stopped and talked to Reckless’ brewer, Ryan Yerdon. He mentioned his NE IPA, Agree to Disagree and I thought I’d give it a try. I’m glad I did. It was a very satisfying beer and for me, the hit of the night. I loved the citrus nose and flavor.
We had a ringside table to the Jai Alai cooler raffle. We were all rooting for dBear to win this nice prize. Sadly, none at the table took home any prizes.
We did have some news from the Pint Night Crew; Z got engaged on Sunday. Congrats, big guy! I convinced him to try the Southern Tier Cherry Cordial, which I thought was right up his alley. Unfortunately, he’s not a cherry fan.
Next week, The Frisco Pint Night brewer is from Southern Maryland – Mully’s. I look forward to tasting some of their choice beverages!
Cheers!
