Philadelphia, PA June 8, 2018
We have arrived in Philly! We arrived at 30th Street Station just 5 minutes late. Philly Beer Week, here we come! I’m writing this from the roof of our AirBnB. It is a sunny Saturday with a nice breeze. Check out dBear’s picture:
We had walked from the train station to a block south of 21st and South. The journey to our place was a great adventure.
Home Sweet Home Brew
Our first stop was at Home Sweet Homebrew. We like to stop and say hi to the owner, George Hummel, to learn about any special beer related events in Philly. He suggested Iron Hill during out visit to Ardmore and a “beer” tea Saturday afternoon, hosted by his wife. Pictured above is George and I with his Homebrew Beer book.
Tria Taproom
We stop for lunch at out favorite hipster Philly bar, Tria Taproom on Walnut. I love the beer selection and super food – love the cheese platter.
Monk’ Cafe
Before reaching our home away from home, we walked through Rittenhouse Square and stopped at everyone’s favorite Belgium pub- Monk’s. Their frites and mussels are a must but their beer selection is second to none. Most of us sampled the Russian River Pliny the Elder.
Cheers!

How much was that Air bnb?
It was about $500/night. Split 8 ways, not too expensive.
