I’m ready for Philly Beer Week. Eight of us are taking the train to Philadelphia for our annual celebration of beer. Last night was the warmup – Avery Pint Night at Frisco Tap House.

The Boulder brewery, Avery, brought some amazing beers to Frisco. Most of the Pint Night Crew ordered the Maharaja, their spectacular, spicy Imperial IPA. Changing things up, I tried the Fimbulvvinter, a sweet, boozy Quad which tastes and smells of cherries. Another Avery standout is Ellie’s Brown.

Newsflash: The Washington Capitals just won the Stanley Cup, 4-3 over the Las Vegas Golden Knights. After 44 years, the Caps finally bring home the title. Congratulations, Washington!

Tomorrow morning, 8 of us will head up to Philly. This tradition continues for the 7th year for the Columbia gang to celebrate Philly Beer Week. Expected highlights include Tria Taphouse, Devil’s Alley beer dinner, Tired Hands, Finn McCool’s, Brauhaus Schmidtz and Monks (of course). I’ll try to keep you posted.
