What a couple of rainy days! This Wednesday, I ventured out in rain, teaming up with Christian (of Frank About Beer) to serve beer for my ex-neighbor Katie Fry Hester. She is a Maryland State Senate District 9 candidate and was holding a fundraiser.
It was a Howard County event. We met at Howard County’s hidden treasure, the Howard County Conservancy. We served Howard County beer – Jailbreak’s Pour Righteous (with piggies on the can), Manor Hill’s Grissette, and Black Flag’s Z Morris (a blonde ale). Although my Howard County has 6 breweries (Jailbreak, Manor Hill, Reckless, Black Flag, Ellicott Mills, and Hysteria) only 3 have cans available in the liquor stores. This wine drinking crowd ran through the vino fairly quickly, then turned to the ales. Z Morris, a malty, low hopped blonde, went rather quickly, followed by one of my favorites, the Grissette. I like its low ABV, mild grapefruit tartness. The Pour Righteous is a substantial American IPA which is quite tasty but few in this crowd enjoyed the low malt, West Coast-style big juicy hop profile. It was a great night to see politics in action, talk to people about beer, and hang with my friend and fellow blogger, Christian.
Cheers!
