There is some exciting news at our beloved Manor Hill Brewery located in Ellicott City, Maryland.
According to Manor Hill’s Director of Brewery Operations, Jason Gotcher: “Ben Little is no longer working for Manor Hill. He is currently exploring other opportunities.
Kurt Krol is our new Head Brewer. Kurt has been brewing all of our beers for the past 7 months and has come to us with 9 years of large scale production brewery experience. We are incredibly excited to move forward with Kurt running the brewhouse.”

Kurt Krol is our new Head Brewer.
He went on to say, “Ben left Manor Hill a few weeks ago. Kurt has brewed at Heavy Seas and DuClaw before coming to us 7 months ago. He specializes in a number of different beer styles, but will continue to focus on the hop forward stuff that Manor Hill is known for while improving our quality control. We also have plans to expand our barrel program to include a number of different mixed/wild fermented options.”
I was a bit alarmed to learn about this change in my favorite local farm brewery. I “googled” Kurt Krol and now agree with Jason; Manor Hill appears to be in good hands. Before Manor Hill, Mr. Krol was brewing at DuClaw starting in 2011. Before that, he spent 2 years as a brewer for Heavy Seas. He has won 7 Great American Beer Festival medals and two World Beer Cup medals.

I recognized Kurt at the Manor Hill tent at MD Craft Brew Festival. He was pretty laid back, should get more accolades. Did not realize he has been there this long.
I just updated the post to include a picture of Kurt. Now everyone can recognize him.
