Local Beer News
The Baltimore Sun’s Best of Baltimore (2017) lists Olde Ale (best beer) and Burley Oak (best brewery). Also, Founders KBS will be on tap this Friday in Columbia, MD. Finally, Justin Bonner from Jailbreak Brewing Company will be in the Uncapped studio on Thursday (4/20) at 11:30 AM.
Olde Ale
Union/Heavy Seas collaborative beer, Olde Ale, has been named Baltimore’s best beer by the Baltimore Sun for 2017. My friend, John, introduced this malt-forward beer to me a few weeks back. I liked it so much, I ran out to Allview Liquors to buy a bomber. Every time I open my refrigerator it calls out to me – “Drink me, drink me.” Check out my earlier post about this terrific beer.
Burley Oak Brewing
Congratulations to Berlin, MD’s Burley Oak Brewing Company for being named Maryland’s best brewery by the Baltimore Sun. I have fond memories of visiting Burley Oak this summer while camping at Assateague Island. We took a break from the pouring rain to stay dry and enjoy a flight. The charm of this faraway brewery in a remote corner of Maryland took me by surprise and their beers are quite tasty. I also had the pleasure of sharing a few sours with Burley Oak’s Jensen and Joie at Max’s Sour Festival this winter.
Founders KBS
KBS, currently listed as the second-best beer in the world by Beer Advocate, will be on tap at Frisco Tap House at 7:00 PM on Friday. For all you coffee beer hounds, this event is a must. No Z, you cannot bring home a growler.
Jailbreak at Uncapped
Justin Bonner from Jailbreak Brewing Company will be in the Uncapped studio on Thursday (4/20) at 11:30 AM. Chris Sands hosts Uncapped’s terrific podcasts covering local beer news. I look forward to spending my lunch time learning about this rising Laurel brewery. I haven’t decided whether to listen or watch this live event.
Cheers!
