Back in November, I published my first blog post on Warren’s Beer Adventures. Seventy-four postings later, I’m still having fun writing about tasting and making beer. Along the way, I came upon a few sites worth a click or two.
HoCoBlogs
Howard County, Maryland has lots of bloggers. This well-organized website helps you filter through all those blogs. Topics like New, Community, Politics, Arts, etc. keeps you up to date with county happenings. You can find Warren’s Beer Adventures in the Food section.
Naptown Pint
What would I do without the Naptown Pint? Liz Murphy writes the Annapolis craft beer blog, keeping us informed about Maryland beer laws and news about the local craft beer industry. Many thanks to her for covering the horrible Maryland House bill 1283. My friends and I all called our state senators to voice our dissatisfaction with that bill in response to her coverage. Stay tuned as Liz follows Peter Franchot’s attempt to revise the State of Maryland’s beer laws which he describes as “antiquated, dysfunctional, anti-small business and anti-consumer.”
Uncapped Podcast
I love listening to podcasts. I listen while doing chores, driving, walking or just about any time I can. So, when I learned about the Uncapped Podcast, a local beer podcast, I had to subscribe. Frederick, Maryland’s local paper, The Frederick News-Post, sponsors the Uncapped Podcast. Beer lover Chris Sands treats us to his silky radio voice as he and a guest host meet with the local craft beer industry. Frederick County has 14 breweries, so he has plenty of local material. I like to listen to his brewer interviews. It’s a great way of vicariously visiting a brewery, especially ones picked for the next brewery tour. Also, if you want to watch instead of just listen, videos are available on Uncapped’s Facebook page.
Village Green/Town²
Julia McCready has been blogging the Village Green/Town2 since 2011. She posts nearly every day, which I find amazing. She writes about Columbia and Oakland Mills in particular. She has a real talent for drawing pictures in my head with her words, like the following little gem. My next door neighbors’ house has an amazing tree which bursts forth and then rains down “pink snow.” She also discovered Warren’s Beer Adventures and mentioned it in a recent post. Julia, thanks for helping out a newbie to the blogging world.
Cheers!
Warren
