Friday was National Beer Day, celebrating the day when people could buy, sell and drink beer again, as long as it was at or below 4.05% ABV. Check out the International Business Times article National Beer Day: 17 Fun Facts to Celebrate the Boozy Holiday. Also, here’s How Some Breweries Survived Prohibition from the Smithsonian Magazine.
The Maryland state Senate passed a compromise bill (see HB1283 for my previous rant). Baltimore Sun reporter, Pamela Wood, fills us in on the latest news. Here’s my take: The stupid concept of forcing taprooms to buy back their own beer when over the 2000-barrel limit remains. New breweries have limited hours, but current brewers are grandfathered. (That puts a real FU on the Maryland welcome mat to potential breweries). One good thing, they did drop the ban on contract brewing.
For those of you who have read a few of my rambling blogs, your know I’m a lover of a good sour ale or two. Christopher Osburn gives us his list of the 8 Best Wild Ales you Can Drink in a Decade. BTW, I’ve already had Le Terroir and Wild Elf, and will work on the other 6 – only 10 years to find them all. Has anyone else had any of these beers? Let me know what you think of them. Also, here’s a nice article about the sour ale from The Fresh Toast.
Tasting Table’s take on Cap’n Crunch Infused Ale was so much fun, I put myself in a bowl of cereal using Snapchat.

Cheers!
